Evangelism
Ministry-
The
Evangelism Ministry exists to lead others to Christ
in Howard and
the surrounding communities. The
most important thing that
we can
be doing as a church is leading people to
Christ, and so the question
we are always asking is “how do we get people to
be open to hearing the good
news of Jesus Christ?”
We are
always open to ideas for new ways to reach out
to others; feel free to contact church at 814-625-2764 with your suggestions.
Opportunities for Service
Special
Events Community Outreach -
From time to time, volunteers are
needed to carry out special outreach efforts,
such as canvassing the community
to distribute door hangers or water bottles or
to act as a special representative of
the church at community events such as
carnivals, fairs or Howard Days. This is
an excellent opportunity for
those who are friendly, outgoing and able to make
people feel welcome.
Activities are planned according to special events
calendars,
approximately four
times per year. Activities may require ability to
walk some
distance (distributing door hangers).
Evangelistic
Events Coordinator - Creative-minded
individuals with a heart for
reaching out to our culture and community are
welcomed to assist with planning
special events. Requires commitment to
meet monthly with the Evangelism
Ministry Team and work on at least one event
per year. If you are interested in this
volunteer position please contact the
church at 814-625-2764.
Immediate
Response Team Members - Responsible for delivering
“Welcome Baskets” to
new visitors of the church and new residents of the area.
This is usually done
within 24 hours of their first visit. Requires a friendly, smiling
personality
and transportation; about 30 minutes of your time 1—10 times per
year. If
you are interested in becoming a part of the Immediate Response Team
please contact the church at 814-625-2764.
Fellowship
Ministry-
The goal
of the Fellowship Ministry is to provide opportunities
for the church family to
gather together in fellowship and socialize. These events
can also be an
excellent opportunity to introduce non-Christian friends to the church
in a relaxed and non-threatening way.
Opportunities for Service
There
is a need for help with planning,
meal/snack preparation, set-up,
decorating, serving and cleaning up
for each of the following events:
Valentine Dinner
Annual Congregational Dinner
Women’s Dinner
Sunday in the Park
Christmas Party
Movie night/game night
Scavenger Hunt
Concert events

Missions Ministry-
The
Missions Ministry exists to bring glory to God by
reaching beyond the walls of
our church building to all people locally, nationally and
globally. We desire to
extend our service, time and resources in spreading the
love of Jesus Christ to
all who need Him.

gathering information about one
of our missionaries—through reading their
newsletters, correspondence, visiting
their website, etc.—and then sharing the
highlights of the missionaries’
activities as well as their prayer needs and
physical needs with the rest of the
congregation through whatever means seems
best (bulletin announcements, bulletin
board displays, brief presentations, etc.).

Worship Ministry-
At Howard
Christian Church, we recognize that worship is
not confined to Sunday morning;
worship means living in a way that pleases God
and encompasses all aspects of
our lives. We also realize that the times we spend
together as a congregation in
corporate worship require special facilitation in order
that the services may
flow smoothly and allow each participant to fully concentrate
on the music, the
reading and teaching of God’s Word, the prayers that are shared
and the time of
communion around the Lord’s table. Our Worship Ministry Team
exists to provide
this facilitation and lead the congregation in times of corporate
worship that will honor and please God.
